Ex-Manchester United star DISMISSES Arsenal’s chances of topping Champions League group

Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves believes Arsenal have no chance of topping their UEFA Champions League group this season.

The Gunners have been paired with reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, Greek giants Olympiakos and Croatian outfit Dinamo Zagreb in the group stage and will be hoping to be crowned kings of Europe for the first time in the club’s history.

Hargreaves, speaking on BT Sport, predicted the north Londoners will finish second once again as he believes the German giants will be the favourites to top the group:

“You can almost guarantee Arsenal won’t top the group,” the former England international said [via Mirror Sport].

Last season the Gunners were knocked out at the last 16 stage for the fifth successive year as they lost on the away goals rule against Ligue 1 side AS Monaco as they were made to pay the ultimate price for a poor first-leg showing at the Emirates Stadium.

Their opener this season will be away in Zagreb on September 16, before Olympiakos visit North London two weeks later.
