Manchester United goalkeeper ‘confident’ of completing Real Madrid move before transfer deadline day

Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea‘s much-anticipated switch to Liga BBVA giants Real Madrid looks set to go through before the end of the transfer window, Mirror Sport reports.

The Spaniard is yet to feature for the Red Devils in their first five games of the new season as manager Louis van Gaal has decided to give new signing Sergio Romero a run in the side whilst De Gea’s future is sorted one way or another.

It had been reported that the Premier League club were confident of keeping hold of the 24-year-old as they were not expecting Los Blancos to make an offer before the September 1 transfer deadline.

However, according to fresh reports, De Gea’s camp are confident a deal will happen before Monday and the Santiago Bernabeu outfit feel a bid in the region of £30million will be accepted by United, otherwise they risk losing him on free transfer next summer as he has just one-year remaining on his current deal at Old Trafford.

In De Gea’s absence from the first-team picture, Romero has performed well and his four clean sheets in five games should fill United supporters with great confidence that he is good enough to fill the void that will be created if the Spaniard departs the club.
