Spanish football expert discusses bid for PSG & Chelsea transfer target

Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has discussed the future of Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann, who has been linked with a move to both Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

The France international has been a big hit at Atleti since moving to the Spanish top flight and finished third in the division’s scoring charts last term, behind only Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

His form has led to interest from other European heavyweights, and Le 10 Sport report that PSG made a €60m offer to sign the forward before finally turning their attention back to Manchester United’s Angel Di Maria.

However, the French champions, as well as English champions Chelsea, had both been rumoured to be eyeing the former Real Sociedad man ahead of the end of the transfer window.

Balague, speaking on Sky Sports, has expressed his conviction that Diego Simeone’s side are not expecting another bit for their star attacker.

“Neither Atletico Madrid nor Antoine Griezmann are expecting an offer in the next few days,” the pundit began, “and Atletico have no intention of letting him go.”

While the forward would surely be tempted by a move to either of the reigning champions, a transfer would come at a risk, with Griezmann surely wary of the upcoming European Championships, keen not to jeopardise his place in Didier Deschamps’s first-team plans.
