Tottenham set to pip Man United & Chelsea to the signing of £11m-rated Brazilian striker

Tottenham Hotspur are poised to bolster their attacking options with the signing of Brazilian star Alexandre Pato, according to reports in Portugal.

The north London outfit are on the transfer market for a new striker to provide competition and cover for Harry Kane this season and with their attempts to lure West Brom striker Saido Berahino to White Hart Lane set to end in failure, it appears manager Mauricio Pochettino is set to turn his attentions elsewhere.

Portuguese media outlet Globoseporte [via Metro Sport] claim the agent of Pato has flown to London in order to seal a deal and that Spurs are currently favourites for the former AC Milan striker’s signature.

The report adds the fee will be £11million and could go through before the end of the transfer window on September 1, although Spurs could face strong competition to sign the 25-year-old as Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly watching developments closely.
