“The guy is just a waste of space”: Liverpool legend BLASTS Mario Balotelli

Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson has given his brutal assessment on both Mario Balotelli and Lazar Markovic, following their departures season-long loan deals.

The attacking pair only joined the Reds during the summer transfer window last summer as part of manager Brendan Rodgers’ rebuilding process after the departure of Luis Suarez to Liga BBVA giants Barcelona a few weeks prior.

However, neither Balotelli or Markovic were able to find their best form during a difficult season for the club and the duo have now joined Serie A side AC Milan and Turkish outfit Fenerbahce respectively for the 2015-16 campaign.

Lawrenson, writing in his weekly column for the Liverpool Echo hit out at both players following confirmation of their respective deals:

“Mario Balotelli headed back to AC Milan this week and for me the guy is just a waste of space.”

“No-one has any idea what is going on with ‘Super Mario’. In training, in attitude, it’s always about him.”

“The good thing is he’s now out of the club and we can get on with our lives,” Lawrenson added.

“Lazar Markovic is likely to go to Fenerbahce in Turkey on loan for the whole season.”

“I’m afraid it’s a sign they think the £20m signing has just not cut the mustard,” Lawrenson concluded.

Balotelli was named on the substitutes bench for the Rossoneri in their league win over Empoli at the weekend, while Markovic could make his debut for Fenerbahce following the international break.
