Tottenham close in on enforcer as Premier League midfielder looks to force transfer

Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama is looking to force through a move to Tottenham before the transfer window slams shut according to the Daily Mirror.

The 24-year-old enforcer will be left out of the Saints squad for their fixture with Norwich City on Sunday with the south-coast side fearing the player has become unsettled due to the interest shown in his services by the White Hart Lane outfit.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is keen to bring in Wanyama as well as West Brom forward Saido Berahino but is running out of time to do so.

Kenyan international Wanyama has impressed since moving to St Mary’s from Celtic in July 2013 and has seen a host of his team-mates leave to complete ‘high-profile’ moves but the Daily Mirror claims Southampton are unwilling to sell the tough tackler, or indeed Man United target Sadio Mane.

Pochettino has offloaded a number of midfielders this summer with Paulinho, Etienne Capoue, Benjamin Stambouli and Lewis Holtby all being sold, leaving space for a central midfield addition.
