Liverpool set to activate highly-rated winger’s £14.5m release clause

Liverpool are poised to dip back into the transfer market and trigger Dynamo Kyiv winger Andriy Yarmolenko‘s £14.5million release clause.

According to Italian publication Tuttomercatoweb [via Metro Sport] the Merseyside outfit are keen to push through a deal for the Ukraine international before the window closes on Tuesday evening and that would make him the club’s eighth major signing of the summer.

Reds manager Brendan Rodgers has already signed James Milner, Adam Bogdan, Danny Ings, Joe Gomez, Roberto Firmino, Nathaniel Clyne and Christian Benteke in an attempt to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

With Lazar Markovic shipped out on-loan to Fenerbahce over the weekend, there is a opening for a new winger in the squad and Yarmolenko appears to be Rodgers’ preferred target.

The 25-year-old has been linked to Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund as well as Everton this summer, however Liverpool are reportedly confident in luring the player to Anfield.
