Tottenham set to make £15m bid for highly-rated Premier League striker (not Saido Berahino)

Tottenham Hotspur are poised to launch a £15million deadline day bid to land Newcastle United striker Ayoze Perez, Mail Sport reports.

The north London outfit have so far been frustrated in their search for a new centre-forward this summer as fellow Premier League side West Brom have rejected two offers for Saido Berahino and it appears that deal is firmly dead in the waters.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is keen to bolster his attacking options before the transfer window closes in an attempt to ease the burden on star striker Harry Kane, who is yet to get off the mark this season, and it appears Perez has emerged as the Argentinian’s next target.

The Spaniard enjoyed a brilliant debut season in English football last year as he registered seven goals in 36 league appearances and scored winners against both Spurs and Liverpool during the 2014-15 campaign.

The report claims Spurs made contact with the Magpies over the weekend and are hopeful that a £15million bid will be enough to lure the 22-year-old to White Hart Lane.
