Manchester United agree terms with striker following €50m bid as Louis van Gaal steps up push for attacking addition

Manchester United have agreed terms with AS Monaco forward Anthony Martial following a €50m bid for the French Under 21 international according to Le Parisien.

19-year-old Stade Louis II starlet Anthony Martial is into his third season as AS Monaco having been signed by the principality outfit from Lyon back in June 2013.

Martial netted 11 goals in all competitions last season and is considered one of the hottest prospects in European football and a player who has a bright future.

Louis van Gaal has seen his Man United side struggle for goals this season, managing just three in four Premier League fixtures, and having sold Robin van Persie to Fenerbahce, the Dutch manager has opted to use Wayne Rooney in a central striking role.

Rooney scored a hat-trick in Man United’s Champions League qualifier with Club Brugge but has gone ten Premier League games without a goal and Mexican international Javier Hernandez hasn’t impressed when brought on in cameo roles this term.

United have spent extensively this summer with van Gaal bringing in Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin and Sergio Romero but the lack of a central striker signing could prove disastrous for the Old Trafford side’s push for major honours in 2015/16.
