Real Madrid linked with surprise move for Liverpool wideman

La Liga giants Real Madrid are keen on Liverpool full-back Alberto Moreno according to Spanish source AS.

Such a move would be something of a surprise given that the former Sevilla man has failed to win his place in Liverpool’s starting eleven thus far this term.

Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers has opted to use teenager Joe Gomez to start all four of Liverpool’s Premier League fixtures this season with Spanish international Moreno only coming on as a sub thus far.

Liverpool brought in Alberto Moreno last summer and the promising 23-year-old had an up and down time of it. The fact that he is now being kept out of the first-team by an 18-year-old talent could leave the attacking minded left-back considering his options.

AS claim that Alberto Moreno is considered a possible replacement for Fabio Coentrao, the Portuguese international having moved to Ligue 1 side AS Monaco on a season long loan spell, with Rafa Benitez seeking a back-up for first-choice left-back Marcelo.

Brendan Rodgers has already offloaded three of the eight signings he made in the summer of 2014, with Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Lazar Markovic completing loan or permanent exits, could Alberto Moreno the next to make a similar departure?
