Tottenham to make deadline-day bid for forward with £25m price-tag

Tottenham are set to make a final bid for long-term target Saido Berahino according to the Daily Mail.

The 22-year-old has been left out of recent West Brom fixtures and Baggies boss Tony Pulis has seen new signing Salomon Rondon get off the mark with his first Premier League goal last weekend.

The Daily Mail claim Tottenham failed with a £21m bid for England Under 21 international Berahino but a new offer from the North London side is expected to nearer West Brom’s £25m price-tag.

Mauricio Pochettino is in need of supporting forwards to help Harry Kane up front and the Argentine has recently brought in Son Heung-min and Clinton N’Jie, from Bayer Leverkusen and Lyon respectively, but is still seemingly keen on bringing in Berahino before the transfer window closes.

Harry Kane has looked overworked this season and hasn’t displayed the level of form that saw the 22-year-old score 31 goals in all competitions last season. The addition of a fresh proven Premier League star such as Berahino will aid Tottenham’s push for a top four finish.

Kane is without a goal this term and Tottenham are without a win, Pochettino’s side collecting three draws in their opening four Premier League fixtures.
