David De Gea’s move to Real Madrid collapses: Man United keeper stays at Old Trafford

Man United keeper David De Gea has seen his proposed move to Real Madrid collapse after the deal failed to beat the transfer deadline according to BBC Sport reports.

The 24-year-old has been the subject of constant transfer speculation throughout the summer and it had appeared a move to the Bernabeu was finally set for completion but reports from Spain suggest that Man United failed to submit the correct paperwork ahead of the Spanish transfer window closing at 11pm on Monday night.

The move was expected to see Real Madrid’s Costa Rican international Keylor Navas moving in the opposite direction but now it appears the deal is off.

Louis van Gaal has left David De Gea out of his Man United side thus far this season, with new signing Sergio Romero starting all six of Man United’s Premier and Champions League fixture thus far, and one wonders whether the Dutch manager will opt to use the Spanish international, who’s contract expires at the end of the campaign.
