Manchester United plot late move for Dutch international wing wizard

Manchester United are considering a last-gasp move to sign Bayern Munich star Arjen Robben according to Spanish source Fichajes (via the Metro).

Old Trafford boss Louis van Gaal knows experienced winger Robben well from his time at the Allianz Arena as well as during his stint as Dutch national team coach, and will be more than aware of what the former PSV Eindhoven, Chelsea and Real Madrid man is capable of.

United have lacked a cutting edge up front this season, scoring just three goals in their opening four Premier League fixtures, and Arjen Robben could offer a real spark in attack.

Though Robben is by trade a winger, the cultured attacker weighs in with more than his fair share of goal, as attested by his astonishing tally of 110 goals in 201 appearances for Bayern Munich, although one wonders if the veteran Allianz Arena star would be open to a move away from his current club.

Robben has played a pivotal role in helping Bayern Munich to three successive Bundesliga titles and tasted Champions League success in 2012/13. Moreover, Pep Guardiola would be loath to lose such a crucial member of his team, especially so late in the transfer window.
