Man United willing to pay £50m for German international

Old Trafford side make late move for world-class forward.

Man United made a late move for Borussia Dortmund forward Marco Reus but were apparently scared off by the German international’s £60m price-tag according to ESPN.

The Old Trafford side took a keen interest in the 26-year-old during talks that saw young Belgian Adnan Januzaj move to the Westfalenstadion on a season long loan spell.

By all accounts Man United were willing to offer £50m for Reus but that came some way below the Bundesliga side’s valuation and this led to Louis van Gaal switching his attention to AS Monaco teenager Anthony Martial, who was brought in by the Premier League side in a £36m deal on deadline-day.

Marco Reus is a proven forward of the highest quality and a player Borussia Dortmund would be loathe to lose, especially with new boss Thomas Tuchel looking to get his side back on track after their poor final campaign under former manager Jurgen Klopp, which led to the club failing to secure a Champions League berth.
