Real Madrid owe Man United keeper David De Gea €10m over failed transfer

Real Madrid will have to fork out €10m (£7.3m) to Man United keeper David De Gea after failing to complete a deal to bring in the Spanish international during the summer transfer window according to AS.

The 24-year-old had been the subject of constant transfer speculation throughout the summer but a move to bring the Old Trafford star back to his hometown failed and David De Gea now faces a difficult time of it at Man United.

Louis van Gaal has frozen the former Atletico Madrid man out of his first-team squad, preferring to use new signing Sergio Romero as his first choice starter, but the Dutch manager will now have to weigh up his options.

The usually hard-headed boss may have to consider welcoming David De Gea back into the fold, at least until the January transfer window, as he is by far a more consistent performer than Argentine international Romero.
