Exposed tactic: LVG to blackmail De Gea into signing new Manchester United contract with career-changing threat

Posted by

Louis van Gaal, the Manchester United manager, is prepared to blackmail David De Gea into signing a contract extension at Old Trafford by refusing to play him for the rest of the season.

De Gea is yet to make an appearance for the Red Devils this term with van Gaal claiming that the goalkeeper has not been in the correct state of mind to play for the club following his persistent links to Real Madrid this summer.

And after his move to the Santiago Bernabeu collapsed on Spain’s deadline day, it seems, contrary to reports, that he will not be welcomed back into United’s squad.

Spanish outlet Fichajes claim that van Gaal is prepared to threaten the 24-year-old with the possibility of no first-team action in an attempt to see him put pen to paper on a new deal in Manchester. Fichajes state that the Dutchman has no qualms in sending De Gea to the stands for the remainder of the campaign if he refuses to commit his future in England.

The continued rejection of a contract extension could therefore see De Gea put his Euro 2016 place at risk and could make finding a suitor next summer problematic.

Real are said to be furious with the deal for the stopper collapsing and have passed blame on the Premier League heavyweights for the failed process.

There are suggestions that Los Blancos now have no interest in negotiating with United in the near future, which means that De Gea may have lost his chance at a dream move to Madrid.
