Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal has returned to his club after abruptly ending his international duty with Chile.

According to ESPN, the South American star reportedly left the Chilean camp due to ‘personal problems’ and has flown back to Germany.

Upon his departure, Vidal slammed the media and insisted that he had not been ejected from the camp for disciplinary reasons.

La Roja are set to contest an international friendly with rivals Paraguay on Saturday, but will now have to do so without their talismanic midfielder.

According to local paper El Mercurio, the midfielder had been spotted in a local casino ahead of the match, while other reports had indicated that the player departed as his son was having health issues.

Vidal only moved to Bayern in the summer when he completed a £28 million move from Juventus. He has agreed a £28 million deal with the Bavarian giants, and has signed a four-year deal with Pep Guardiola’s domestic heavyweights.
