Arsenal and Manchester United target hoping to leave current club

PSG star Ezequiel Lavezzi is hoping to leave the Ligue 1 champions, reports Fichajes [via Metro].

Arsenal and Tottenham have been linked to the 30-year-old recently by the Daily Express, while the Metro adds that Inter Milan, Manchester United, and Valencia are also monitoring the situation. This development will be a major boost for all five, with the the North London rivals especially in need of extra attacking impetus after a lethargic opening four games of the season.

The Gunners have only scored three times, two of which were own goals. Meanwhile, Spurs are heavily reliant on Harry Kane in the final third, meaning both could do with the Argentina international come January.

The winger’s place at the Parc des Princes has come in to doubt with the arrival of Angel Di Maria from Manchester United.

Alongside Lucas Moura, the 27-year-old is a very similar player to the former Napoli man, and the pair could keep him out of the starting XI this season.

Last season, the forward managed eight goals and two assists in 30 Ligue 1 appearances, with 11 of those being from the substitutes’ bench. His ability to play right across the front line is also a draw for the interested sides, with versatility something that Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal is especially keen on.

The 63-year-old admitted that he likes to buy ‘multi-functional’ players last season [Daily Mirror].

He said: “I like multi-functional players because then you can vary your team and you are more unpredictable for your opponent.”
