Liverpool man told he’s TOO FAT to play despite debut goal

Liverpool star Mario Balotelli has been told that he’s too overweight to play for AC Milan, despite being scoring just three minutes in to his debut, reports the Daily Star.

The 25-year-old has been sent out on loan to the San Siro, after disappointing for the Reds last season. He hasn’t let that form stop from making a quick start though, with the Italy international hitting the back of the net early on in their 3-2 friendly win over Mantova.

However, manager Sinisa Mihajlovic has revealed that he won’t be picking the striker until he loses some weight. Having not played for much of the second half of the last campaign, the striker is not at peak fitness.

“He’s not played for a while and he still has to improve,” the Serbian said, “He’s training well and his physical tests are satisfactory, but he’s three kilogrammes overweight: he’s on a diet and when he’s ready he will play.”

Balotelli does seem to have improved his attitude with the Rossoneri though, with vice-president Adriano Galliani praising the former Manchester City man’s efforts since returning to the club.

“His fitness is improving, physically he’s in a good place and he can do what he wants when he has the ball,” said the 71-year-old.

This is the Italian’s second spell with Milan, having also been there from January 2013 until summer 2014. During that time he scored 30 goals in 54 appearances, perhaps his most successful time with any club.
