Manchester United linked with move to offer player in exchange for £60m-rated forward

A swap deal involving Marco Reus and Adnan Januzaj is, according to the Daily Star, ‘on the cards’ following the young Belgian’s loan move to Borussia Dortmund.

German international Marco Reus saw his Borussia Dortmund side fail to secure a Champions League berth for 2015/16, and the departure of Jurgen Klopp will leave the Westfalenstadion with a real void to fill.

Manchester United have found themselves similarly struggling after Sir Alex Ferguson opted to retire from the game, and Louis van Gaal is slowly moving the Old Trafford side in a new direction, although it remains to be seen whether the Dutch coach is on the right track following a mixed start to the campaign.

The Daily Star claim £60m-rated Dortmund star Reus is also the subject of interest from Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City and Real Madrid.

Louis van Gaal opted to strengthen his attack with a deadline-day move for AS Monaco youngster Anthony Martial, with Man United’s £36m move for the French youngster (via BBC Sport) something of a gamble given the forward’s lack of experience and tender years. Reus, by contrast, is a proven forward of the highest calibre.

Reus has scored 59 goals in 128 appearances since moving to Borussia Dortmund in July 2013, although injury prevented him from taking his place in Germany’s World Cup-winning squad of 2014.
