Wayne Rooney’s former manager REVEALS how Man Utd star can prolong his career

Is THIS the secret to keeping Rooney at the top level?

Former Manchester United and Everton manager David Moyes has expressed his belief that Wayne Rooney should move into midfield to prolong his career at the top level.

The England captain went level with Bobby Charlton as his country’s top scorer in the 6-0 win over San Marino, but has been in poor form for his club this season, failing to score in the Premier League so far.

Although Rooney has occasionally been used in midfield before, with mixed results, Moyes feels that could be the best move for him in the near future.

The Scot is quoted in the Daily Mail as saying: “I think while he is probably England’s best striker at the moment, he has to continue playing as a striker and scoring goals.

“But I could genuinely see Wayne being a midfield player for a year or two after that – I think he has got that ability when his legs run out a bit.”
