Morgan Schneiderlin has revealed which player is considered one of Manchester United‘s greats alongside David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and Eric Cantona.

The France international claims that compatriot Patrice Evra is adored at Old Trafford, and is spoken of with immense respect by insiders and outsiders of the English giants.

Speaking to French newspaper Le Parisien, Schneiderlin said: “Beckham, Scholes, Giggs and Cantona, of course, and then there’s Evra,” as quoted by the Daily Express.

“When you speak to the people in Manchester, and all the French people need to know this, Patrice is an idol.

“He is someone who is unanimously loved by everyone; in the club, as well as outside of it.”

Evra spent eight-and-a-half-years in Manchester, captaining the side on many occasions, helping to lift five Premier League titles, one Champions League, three League Cups, five FA Community Shields and one FIFA Club World Cup.

After 379 appearances for United, the left-back decided upon a move to Juventus, despite new manager Louis van Gaal desperate to keep hold of him.

Evra recently stated that van Gaal was so keen on him staying that the Dutchman offered him the captaincy ahead of Wayne Rooney [via the Daily Mail].
