Tottenham suffer major blow in pursuit of Southampton star Victor Wanyama

Tottenham Hotspur‘s hopes of signing Victor Wanyama has taken a huge blow following reports in Telegraph Sport that Southampton are reluctant to do business with their Premier League rivals.

The north London outfit were heavily linked with a move for the Kenyan midfielder during the summer transfer window, but were unable to reach an agreement with the Saints, who stood firm with their stance not to sell another one of their key players.

Last summer French midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin was a target for Spurs, but just like their recent interest in Wanyama they failed to follow it up with a serious offer and that is one of the reasons why Ronald Koeman’s side have become agitated with the club they now feel are an direct rival.

The reports adds that its not just the Saints who are keen to avoid transfer dealings with the White Hart Lane club as West Brom are also upset with them following their pursuit of Saido Berahino.
