Chelsea target Paul Pogba has revealed why he didn’t try to force a move away from Juventus in the summer, reports the Daily Star.

The 22-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, but the Blues weren’t successful in their overtures. PSG and Barcelona have also been linked, with the latter having to wait until at least January to make their move due to a transfer ban.

However, the France international is insistent that last summer wasn’t the right time to leave Turin. Although he didn’t deny that he could depart in the future, and it is thought that he is waiting for the Blaugrana’s ban to end.

“Why would I not stay? I didn’t have any motive to go, it wasn’t the right time,” he said, “It was never clear that I would leave and there’s no reason I can’t continue here for longer, let’s see.”

This will give hope to Chelsea that they could sign the youngster in the future. Jose Mourinho’s side look in need of reinforcements in the middle of the park, with Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic both looking out of form in the opening stages of the season. Their defeats to Manchester City and Crystal Palace have come in large part because of poor performances in the middle of the park.
