Hull City midfielder Jake Livermore has been cleared of punishment by the Football Association despite testing positive for cocaine, it has been confirmed.

The former Tottenham man was the subject of a random drugs test last season that found traces of the illegal substance, but the FA have acted compassionately on the matter.

It has emerged that Livermore was “in a dark place” after the death of his infant child when he took the cocaine, as revealed by his manager Steve Bruce in the summer (via BBC Sport).
