Tottenham star Emmanuel Adebayor has exiled himself to the Under 21s side, reports the Daily Express.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that the 31-year-old had the opportunity to train with the first team but turned it down. He has been left out of their Premier League and Europa League squads and appears to be unhappy with the situation.

“We gave Adebayor the opportunity to train with the first team but he decided to train with the under-21s,” said Pochettino, “I am surprised he did not go but this is his decision. Mine was a sporting decision.”

The Togo international has also been told that he can’t play for his country after failing to report for a recent African Cup of Nations qualifier. This run of bad luck for the player has come after a move to West Ham late in the transfer window fell apart [London 24].

The striker now looks set to be without football until at least January. Coupled with the sale of Roberto Soldado, this has left the North Londoners relying heavily on Harry Kane up front. The 22-year-old is yet to score in domestic football this season, but did hit the back of the net in both of England’s recent matches against Switzerland and San Marino.
