Following Manchester United‘s victory over Liverpool on Saturday, Red Devils coach Louis van Gaal has been quick to praise his vanquished opponents….or at least that’s what it looks like at first glance.
Speaking to the press after the match, the Dutch coach called Liverpool a ‘fantastic club’…but only because he’s got a 100 percent record against United’s fierce rivals!
“For me, Liverpool is a fantastic club,” he began, “because I have won every game against Liverpool.”
The Red Devils convincingly overcame their north-west rivals in the Derby of England on Saturday, impressing at Old Trafford and running out 3-1 winners.
Daley Blind and Ander Herrera opened the scoring for United, and while Christian Benteke halved the deficit, the game was settled when debutant Anthony Martial rounded off the triumph late on.
Van Gaal has faced the Reds on three occasions, willing every single contest, and the manager clearly enjoys competing against his side’s traditional rivals.
