Defeat at Goodison Park leaves Jose Mourinho’s side 11 points adrift of current league leaders Manchester City after only five games and many in the media have begun to question if the west London outfit are already out of this season’s title race.
Ivanovic, who himself has struggled to find his best form, insists the Blues aren’t playing too badly despite the poor results and expects one win will change the outlook on their season:
“We need one big win to come back to our way,” the Serbian international told the club’s official TV channel.
“We are not playing as badly as the results are showing but we have to wake up.”
“I think at the moment we are being punished for all our mistakes. The only way we can change is to work hard and be ready for the next game, so it is like a final and we have to play like a final,” Ivanovic added.
