Ashley Young eyes Champions League glory with Manchester United this season

Manchester United winger Ashley Young says the squad are eager to land a fourth European title for the club this season, Mirror Sport reports.

The Red Devils play their first Champions League group stage game since the 2013-14 season when they face defending Eredivisie champions PSV Eindhoven at the Phillips Stadion on Tuesday night.

United head into the clash in the Netherlands on the back of a morale-boosting 3-1 victory over bitter rivals Liverpool at the weekend and Young, who was impressive after coming on as a half-time substitute in the game at Old Trafford, insists the squad are desperate for success in Europe after missing out completely last season:

“I did miss it and I don’t think there is a player in the squad who didn’t miss it,” the Englishman admitted.

“I sat at home and watched it with my family, but I’m obviously glad to be back in it again.”

“We’ve have got ourselves back into it and we want to do as well as we can.”

“Hopefully we can get back to winning ways in the Champions League,” Young added.

Young’s 45-minute cameo against the Merseyside outfit could leave manager Louis van Gaal with a selection dilemma for the game against PSV as his performance could deny Memphis Depay the chance to start against his former club.
