Manchester City to open talks over world-class midfielder at the Etihad on Tuesday night

Manchester City will not only be out for victory over Juventus at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night, but are looking to take advantage of the Champions League fixture by opening transfer talks with the Serie A giants.

City could be set to heap further misery on their Premier League rivals Chelsea by discussing the possibility of a deal for Paul Pogba.

Pogba is one of the most sought after midfielders in world football, with the Blues having been heavily linked with the Frenchman over the summer.

The 22-year-old is contracted to Juve until June 2019, but, according to reports cited by Sky Sports, Manuel Pellegrini has not ruled out a move for the France international and will be in talks with the club’s chiefs in Manchester tomorrow night.

Pogba is expected to cost in excess of £70m, and could break the world transfer record, currently held by Gareth Bale at £85.3m, when he leaves Turin.

According to reports in the Telegraph, however, his wage demands of £250,000 a week after tax have thus far proved to be the major issue in any transfer.
