Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has become the first manager to lose 50 Champions League main tournament matches, reports the Metro.
The Gunners lost 2-1 to Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday night thanks to an Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain own goal and a Junior Fernandes header. A late revival sparked by Theo Walcott hitting the back of the net wasn’t enough to get anything from the game, with the North Londoners hamstrung by the first-half dismissal of Olivier Giroud.
Even the Frenchman’s sending off was farcical, with the first of his two yellow cards coming for dissent and the second for a clumsy challenge. This has also further compounded the criticism Wenger is receiving for failing to sign a single outfield player in the last transfer window. The lack of investment has been particularly telling up front.

Wenger’s side have scored a paltry three goals in five Premier League games, when own goals are discounted. Their lack of cutting edge was also evident in a 0-3 loss to West Ham and 0-0 draw with Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium.
