Manchester United star ‘not available’ for loan despite lack of Old Trafford opportunities

Manchester United star James Wilson isn’t available for a loan deal, reports the Daily Express.

Wolves boss Kenny Jackett revealed this when asked about the 19-year-old. The Championship side would have been interested in signing the England Under 21s international had the Red Devils been willing to let him go. Derby, QPR, Hull City, and Bolton have also been linked with moves for the teenager.

“The information is he’s not available,” said Jackett, “They’re keeping him there for the time being. There’s been a number of clubs who have enquired about him and at one stage they’d been saying perhaps he could go.

“The timing of it is always something and if he was available would there be some interest from us? There has been in the past, yes.”

The forward scored only twice in 17 appearances last season, but most of those were from the substitutes’ bench. With the signing of Anthony Martial, he is unlikely to have many chances to get on the pitch during the current campaign. Which makes the refusal to allow a temporary departure unusual.

The youngster has never left the Red Devils on a loan deal, but could well need one if he is ever to live up to his potential. With opportunities limited at Old Trafford, the striker will need to go somewhere where he can get regular first team football.
