The weekend Championship schedule draws to a close this evening as pre-season promotions favourites Derby and Burnley do battle at the iPro stadium.
After a slow start to the season, Derby have burst into life in recent weeks with narrow wins over Preston North End and Reading.
The wins means that manager Paul Clements has just once in his first 7 league games as manager and another win on Monday would see his side climb into the top 6 for the first time.
Clements could have George Thorne available after he missed both the last two games with a calf injury while Craig Bryson and Chris Baird miss out with concussion and a knee injury respectively.
Former Claret Jason Shackell is in line to start against his former employers having left Sean Dyche’s side in the summer for the Rams.
Dyche meanwhile have no new injury worries ahead of the game and is unlikely to make too many changes to his starting XI having won each of his last four games.
Burnley have made a solid return to life in the Championship and sit 4th in the table on 14 points, 6 off leaders Brighton.
Last time out they managed a 2-1 win over the MK Dons and they will head into the clash with their key forwards finding form. New signing Andre Gray opened his account in the win over Sheffield Wednesday in round 6, while Sam Vokes and George Boyd were the hero’s against the Dons.
Long-term absentee Dean Marney is nearing a return to full-fitness and while he won’t be involved on Monday, he handed the club a big boost ahead of the clash by signing a new deal.
The 31 year old has committed for 2 more years with the Lancashire side and he will hope to return to action soon to inspire his side back to the big time.
