Arsenal are readying a fresh offer for highly-rated Juventus defender Daniele Rugani according to the Metro.

The 21-year-old centre-back has spent the past two seasons at Empoli before his full registration was bought up by Italian giants Juventus and is considered one of the hottest properties in Europe.

Rugani is yet to make his debut for his Turin based side but is a regular in the Italian Under 21 national team set-up and took part in the 2015 UEFA European Under-21 Championship this summer and has been called up to Antonio Conte’s senior side also.

Arsenal are said to have made a £13m bid for Rugani over the summer but saw the offer turned down but the North London side are ready to put in a ‘substantial’ new offer for the Juventus man.

Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny have both struggled with illness and injury and back-up option Gabriel Paulista found himself ordered off during Arsenal’s weekend defeat to Chelsea and as such Wenger may do well to strengthen his options at the back in January.
