Barcelona have confirmed that Lionel Messi faces two months on the sidelines after the injury he suffered early on during Saturday’s meeting with Las Palmas.

The footballing superstar was felled after a clash was goalkeeper Javi Varas only three minutes into the match.

He remained grounded for three minutes as he was tended to by doctors, before eventually deciding that he could continue.

However, it quickly became apparent that Messi would be unable to run off the injury, and he was replaced soon afterwards by Munir.

The Argentine was rushed to hospital for tests, with the club doctors, the fans at the Camp Nou, and his teammates—notably Andres Iniesta—particularly agitated by the forward’s misfortune.

Barca subsequently confirmed on their official Twitter page that the attacker will miss approximately seven to eight weeks of action, making Messi a doubt for the first Clasico of the season—the November 22 meeting with Real Madrid.
