Watford lead race to sign free agent Emmanuel Adebayor

Newly promoted Vicarage Road side Watford are keen on signing free agent Emmanuel Adebayor according to the Daily Express.

The 31-year-old Togo international is available on a free transfer after he came to an agreement with his former White Hart Lane employers to rescind his contract.

Though the experienced forward is now available on a free transfer it’s likely his wage demands could prove something of an obstacle for the Hornets, with Adebayor’s reported £100k a week salary expectations likely to be far and away above any player currently at Waford.

On the prospect of signing Adebayor manager Quique Flores has stated;

“You never know if we will sign him in January, maybe it is possible,”

“And maybe other big names.”

Adebayor has racked up 96 Premier League goals in 225 appearances for Arsenal, Man City and Tottenham and still has the ability to provide Watford with a strong option in the final third.
