Arsenal Olympiacos: STRANGE stat gives Arsene Wenger’s side big edge in Champions League clash

Arsenal haven’t had the best of luck in the Champions League in recent years and their loss to Dinamo Zagreb in the first leg was no exception. But a fascinating stat shows that the Gunners actually have a great chance of pulling off a win this week regardless of their opponents’ ability.

Josh James of the Arsenal Media Group pointed out on Twitter that Arsenal are undefeated in the second matchdays of the Champions League group stage, winning 16 times and being held to a draw 4 times. James pointed out that Arsenal also have 46 goals for versus 15 goals against them.

The stats are a good omen for an Arsenal team that is currently three points behind heavy-favorites Bayern Munich not to mention Dinamo Zagreb. Since the German giants and Zagreb face off this week, the winner would have a commanding advantage on the Group F table.

Olympiacos were the champions of the Greek Superleague last season but were clobbered in matchday one against Bayern Munich.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have been revitalized on offence after Alexis Sanchez recorded a hat-trick against Leicester City. Sanchez, Giroud and Walcott combined for five goals in the match.
