Is this former Premier League boss set to take the Sunderland job?

Former West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce looks set to be the leading contender to replace the struggling Dick Advocaat in charge of Sunderland.

The 60-year-old has been out of work since leaving Upton Park in the summer, but has shown himself to be a reliable manager at this level for many years now.

Sunderland could do with his experience as they look to avoid relegation after an awful start under Advocaat, who only narrowly led them to survival in the top flight last term.

Still, according to the Sunday Times, the Dutchman is expected to be on his way out of the Stadium of Light imminently, with Allardyce set to come in as his replacement.
