Arsenal wonderkid wants to leave, according to his dad

At 19 years old, Alex Iwobi is at the perfect age to be getting significant playing time for a football club. But as a reserve for Arsenal, the Nigerian forward is still waiting for his shot and wants a chance to play elsewhere.

According to the Metro, Alex’s father Chuka Iwobi has publicly stated that the teenage Arsenal forward wants to go out on loan and already has a number of suitors that have expressed interest.

“A few clubs in the United Kingdon and abroad have approached Arsenal to take Alex on loan,” Chuka said.

“But Arsene Wenger wants him to be with the first team because he did very well in pre-season.

“Alex’s preferred option at this stage is to go on loan to gain first-team experience and come back to Arsenal later on to fight for a place.”

With the re-emergence of the offense thanks to Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil all scoring over the last two weeks, Arsene Wenger has more than enough goal scorers at the moment to let Iwobi leave on loan and gain experience.

A solid performer for Arsenal’s Under-21 squad, Iwobi recorded nine goals in the final nine games of the U-21 campaign last season. The Arsenal.com profile of Iwobi described him as a winger-converted-striker and was a bench player last year when Arsenal faced Galasataray in the Champions League.
