Arsenal star Petr Cech insists Chelsea still Premier League title favourites

Arsenal keeper Petr Cech still believes his former club Chelsea are the favourites to win the Premier League this season, despite their shocking start to the season.

Cech left Stamford Bridge over the summer after seeing Belgian Thibaut Courtois take the starting spot in 2014/15 and after a poor display in Arsenal’s opening Premier League weekend defeat to West Ham the experienced custodian has impressed between the sticks for the Gunners.

The Czech Republic international has seen Jose Mourinho’s Blues side struggle for form this term but Cech still feels the West London side have what it takes to turn their season around.

“Their form surprises me because Chelsea are among the best in the Premier League,”

“I am no longer there, so it is hard for me to evaluate what is going on. Anyway, the season is long and Chelsea are still favourites in my eyes.”

However, the Czech Republic international is happy with his new side’s current form and still feels his they can put up a fight to win the league this term too.

“After the first defeat for us against West Ham, everyone said that we can never win anything big. Now we are again being compared to the most famous Arsenal, who didn’t lose during one season.

“I just know that we have a team that can fight for the title until last round.”

On the subject of his involvement, or lack thereof, in Champions League action Cech stated;

“Twice Arsene Wenger has decided that David Ospina play in the Champions League over me and I have to respect that. In such a big team and in such a long season it is not possible for a man to play all the time, though I obviously wanted to.” Quotes reported by Goal.com.
