High flying Birmingham will be out to secure a third successive win when they welcome QPR to St. Andrews this afternoon.
Gary Rowett’s side have shown tremendous mental strength in recent wins achieving back to back wins following a run of four games without a win in all competitions.
Last time out goals from Demarai Gray and Jacques Maghoma were enough to secure 2-0 win at Leeds United.
The win pushed the Blues into the top four and they will hope to continue their impressive play-off push at home to QPR.
The Hoops have had a mixed time of this season. Chris Ramsey’s side have won just one of their last five games and have conceded 12 goals in their last five games, including three last time out in the win over Bolton.
The 4-3 success was the club’s first win in five games, a run that has seen them slip to 11th, although such is the competitive nature of the league they remain just three points off the play-off places.
Key to their recent struggles has been the loss of Charlie Austin to injury. The striker, scorer of 7 goals this season, is out until the end of the month.
In this absence, Tjarron Chery has stepped up to the table, scoring four goals and Ramsey will need the young striker to continue that run of form especially with Jamie Mackie, out for the season, joining Austin in the treatment room.
Former Spurs midfielder Sandro made his first appearance of the season last time out. The Brazilian came off the bench against Bolton but could make his first start of the season on Saturday.
The club’s last met in March 2014 when QPR won 2-0 on their way to securing promotion to the Premier League. In all Ramsey’s men have won each of the last 3 meetings with Birmingham’s last win coming in this fixture coming in October 2009.
