Arsenal to launch £22m Real Madrid playmaker bid during January transfer window

Arsenal are ready to launch a £22m bid for Real Madrid attacking midfielder Isco in January according to the Daily Mirror.

Arsene Wenger has long been linked with an interest in the 23-year-old Spanish international, even though arguably the Gunners boss has a host of similar style players in his Emirates Stadium squad, and will hope such an offer will tempt the Bernabeu side to sell.

Isco has started six of Real Madrid’s seven La Liga fixtures thus far this season but his regular inclusion in Rafa Benitez’s side is more down to injuries suffered by Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez than the former Malaga man being a key member of the Spanish giant’s plans.

Should Real Madrid consider selling Isco then one would imagine they would demand a fee in excess of the bid stated by this source, having paid £23m for the playmaker two years ago.

Wenger may be better off looking to bring in a strong defensively minded midfielder or perhaps an extra striking option before considering a move to stock up on yet another creative flair player.
