Arsenal face a massive task tonight as they host Bayern Munich – the most in-form team in Europe – in a huge Champions League game.
The Gunners have zero points from their first two group matches, having lost 2-1 at Dinamo Zagreb, before suffering a 3-2 home defeat to Olympiakos.
Meanwhile, Bayern, who have won their last 12 games in all competitions, top Group F with maximum points from two matches and a +8 goal difference to boot.
Many are labelling this evening’s game as a must-win match for Arsene Wenger’s men, but is it really?
Bwin have published some very interesting statistics. The German bookmakers have reminded us that 10 teams have qualified from Champions League groups after losing their opening two matches. And, of those 10 teams, five of them failed to win their third game too, including Newcastle United, who actually lost their opening three matches in 2002, before winning their next three.
Although Arsenal will require something stunning to qualify – probably including a win in Bavaria – if they fail to beat Bayern tonight, this brilliant infographic should give Gooners a smidgen of hope…
