Arsenal legend expects Guardiola in the EPL; Could Spanish coach replace Jose Mourinho at Chelsea

Arsenal great Thierry Henry has insisted that Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola would be a huge success in the Premier League should he decide to come to England.

While the Spanish manager has proved effective in the Bundesliga, where his Bayern side have conquered all before them, the Bavarian giants have yet to reach the Champions League final since the former Barcelona boss took over.

As such, it would seem Guardiola has unfinished business with the club.

However, despite this, the former Spain midfield general has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in recent times. Manchester City has long been mooted as a possible destination, with Guardiola considered to be an upgrade on Manuel Pellegrini.

A second option—and one that has risen in prominence in recent weeks—is Chelsea, where Jose Mourinho appears to be on the brink of a departure.

The Portugueuse coach won the Premier League title last season, but things have unravelled spectacularly for his side this term, and their form in the EPL has led to calls for the manager’s departure.

Should Mourinho depart, Guardiola would surely be installed among the favourites to replace him.

Henry—whose time at Barcelona overlapped with that of Pep—insisted that the coach would be an enormous success should he move to England.

“I think he will come,” Henry began, as reported by Le 10 Sport, “he’s a perfect fit for the division. He’s a great guy and he has a great vision of playing. He has control over everything, he has a way of making his teams play which no other coach has.

“He is one of the best trainers of my career.”
