Man United player ratings vs Middlesbrough: Rooney ranked lowest of Red Devils penalty LOSERS

Posted by

It was a long night for Louis van Gaal’s men, as United crashed out on penalties to Championship club Middlesbrough. The two sides both had chances, and could have ended the night during regular time.

However, with his stars misfiring, LVG will be lamenting the fact that the game went all the way to spot kicks with a supposed title challenge being mounted.

Some of his stars performed better than others, but on the whole it was an abject display from the Red Devils. See how they ranked below.

GK: Sergio Romero

6/10

Two terrific save towards the end to keep United in it.

Matteo Darmian

7/10

Did well to limit the experienced yet still tricky Stewart Downing.

Chris Smalling

7/10

Wayne Rooney really wasn’t joking when he said he’s one of the best defenders in the world. Consistently consistent yet again.

Daley Blind

6/10

Got off luckily with the disallowed goal, otherwise solid if unspectacular.

Marcos Rojo

5/10

It’s perhaps time to admit that Rojo is too limited for Manchester United.
