Could PSG be set to end Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea nightmare?

Paris Saint-Germain could emerge as Jose Mourinho’s next destination should he be fired by Chelsea, according to reports in France.

RMC journalist Daniel Riolo has revealed that there is substance behind the rumours linking the Portuguese coach to the Parc des Princes, via Le 10 Sport.

“Mourinho to PSG? I was the first to say it in August. It’s something rather serious. The PSG have been circling him since QSI took over the club.

“They need to be given a second wind. PSG are looking for a coach with an international standing, and you can’t just find that everywhere,” Riolo continued.

“Mourinho is the ideal man!”

The Portuguese coach may soon find himself out of work following Chelsea’s miserable start to the new season, struggles compounded by their midweek defeat by Stoke City in the Capital One Cup.

However, according to Tuttosport on Wednesday, PSG are also considering another coach as a potential successor for Laurent Blanc.

The Italian source report that Sevilla coach Unai Emery has also caught the eye of club chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

The Spanish manager has twice won the Europa League, and while he cannot boast the same kind of success and standing as Mourinho, he is arguably an upgrade on Blanc.

The French manager’s coach is comfortable guiding PSG in Ligue 1, where they have already amassed a considerable lead at the top of the French table. However, Blanc’s real test will be in the Champions League, where the club’s management are keen to improve on last season’s quarter-final showing.
