Manchester United are said to be preparing an offer that would see them beat Premier League rivals Arsenal to the signature of Barcelona youngster Sergi Samper, according to the Metro.
Samper has been consistently linked with a move to Arsenal over the previous two transfer windows, with Arsene Wenger believed to be a big admirer of the young midfielder (via Metro).
However, a report in the Daily Star is now claiming that Manchester United will throw their hat into the ring in the race to sign him having impressed Red Devils scouts during Barcelona’s recent Copa Del Rey clash with Villanovense.
The Star also claims that Samper has an £8.5m buyout clause installed in his contract and is now creeping his way up Louis van Gaal’s priority list.
Samper is highly-rated in Spain, and is being billed as a cultured central midfielder that is adept at both passing and tacking, which draw comparisons with current Barca star Sergio Busquets (via Metro).
