Need a wing-man? Arsenal have the assist MASTER of the Premier League

Mesut Ozil does not have a reputation for being a scoring genius like his teammates Alexis Sanchez or Olivier Giroud, but judging by his recent numbers, he has been just as vital to Arsenal’s scoring as anyone making the shots.

According to the Metro, a recent statistic found that Ozil leads the Premier League in assists over a more than two-year stretch at Emirates Stadium with an impressive 21 since September 2013 – a tenure that includes several missed months of action due to a knee injury.

Ozil’s penchant for getting the big assist should come as no surprise given his history. He led Bundesliga in assists in the 2009-10 season with Werder Bremen. Several months later he would tie for the assists lead in the 2010 FIFA World Cup representing Germany.

Over the next few seasons Ozil would lead the Champions League and La Liga in assists as a member of Real Madrid, as well as the Euro 2012 tournament with Germany.

Arsenal acquired the German winger for £42.5 million from Real Madrid in 2013, and he has done solid work for the club en route to two FA Cup titles and the FA Community Shield.

Suffice it to say, Mesut Ozil is probably one of the best wingers Arsenal have had in a long time. Now if only he can assist them to the Premier League title this year…
