Ramires receives Chelsea contract extension through 2019

Amidst persistent rumours that several big-name Chelsea players like Eden Hazard, Falcao and Pedro are looking to abandon ship, the Blues have been hard at work tying down some of their veteran players.

According to Chelsea’s official website, the club have reached a contract extension with Ramires that will keep him at Stamford Bridge through 2019. The terms of the deal were not disclosed

The 28-year-old midfielder is currently in his sixth season with Chelsea after a 2010 transfer from Benfica. He has made over 150 league appearances and 16 goals for the Blues, and has won five major trophies with the club.

In the 2012-13 season, Ramires demonstrated his incredible durability by playing in 62 out of 69 fixtures for Chelsea en route to the Europe League title.

Ramires has won the Premier League, League Cup, FA Cup, Europa League and Champions League.

The Brazilian midfielder has made 12 appearances for Chelsea this season in all competitions and has two goals this season.
