Palermo confirm Chelsea interest in striker Franco Vazquez

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has said that Chelsea want to sign striker Franco Vazquez during the January transfer window, according to the Metro.

The 26-year-old impressed alongside Paulo Dybala for the Sicilian side last season, and stayed at Palermo over the summer when Dybala left for Juventus (via Metro).

However, Zamparini has stated that Vazquez still has admirers, with The Blues just one of the sides looking to strike a deal for him in the new year (via Metro).

“Vazquez is the best Italian trequartista at the moment,” Zamparini told Italian radio station Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“No-one can turn their nose up when he’s compared to [Michel] Platini. He’s a player in great demand, and if he continues to perform as he has been I think this will be his last season in pink.

“Milan, Inter and Chelsea want him as soon as the winter transfer window, but no-one will move in January.”
